Something to remember and live by!
I love quotes about being happy!! You will see a trend :)

Prayer is so powerful and is something that people sometimes forget to do until they need something!
I am a sucker for song lyrics! And this is one of my favorite songs!
Just thought this was cute!
Definitely words to remember and to think about each day as we face the day to day challenges of the world!

With that said, I hope everyone has a wonderful week! Remember to do a good deed each day! Making someone else's day a little brighter can always have a positive effect on your day!

Movie Reviews

So as you may know, I love seeing movies and if I love it, I will see it more than once. Going to the movies with friends and/or family is always a good time! I decided that today's blog would be about the last few movies I have seen.  I will tell a little about the movie and then give my recommendation.
Here they are (in no order)
1. Tyler Perry's Single Mom's Club
Such a wonderful movie about 5 women, all very different but all single moms. The women are forced to work together. Definitely a must see!
2. Frozen
By far the cutest Disney movie I have seen in a while! Every child should see it...and every adult! It's about 2 sisters the are separated by one sisters "gift". Shows kids how important family is and how you should do everything you can for family!
3. Saving Mr. Banks
If you liked Mary Poppins, you will love this movie. It is sort of a prequel to Mary Poppins. It tells the story of how Mary Poppins came to be and what it really is about! Definitely worth seeing!
4. Monuments Men
This movie has such a good cast so I decided to see it. I am not a history person but this was a wonderful movie! It is about saving the historical art work from Hitler. These men work together as strangers in the beginning and form a brotherhood by the end. Some sad parts but very good!
5. Ride Along
Anything with Kevin Hart in it is hilarious to me! This is a laugh out loud comedy for sure! It is about a couple who want to get married but he must prove himself to his girlfriends over protective brother. Lots of laughs and relatable to anyone with siblings!

That's my post for tonight! Enjoy your night and do something kind tomorrow!

March is Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Awareness Month

Since March is MS Awareness month I thought I would share some facts about MS! The following information is from www.multiplesclerosis.net.

"Epidemiology, the branch of science that studies patterns in how diseases affect groups of people, continues to make important discoveries about MS that shed light on the cause(s) of the disease.

We know that MS is more common among people in Europe, the United States, Canada, New Zealand, and sections of Australia and less common among people in Asia and the tropics. Within regions with temperate climates, cases of MS increase in incidence and prevalence farther from the equator (or in higher latitudes). The color-coded map below shows the number of people with MS throughout the world. Notice that greater numbers are found in higher northern and southern latitudes.

World distribution of multiple sclerosis: greater prevalence in higher northern and southern latitudes

Global MS

In the US, the number of people with MS is estimated to be about 400,000, with approximately 10,000 new cases diagnosed every year (that’s 200 new cases per week).

Is MS more common in females than males?

MS is much more common in females than males, about 2 to 3 times more common in relapsing-remitting MS. This is also true for other autoimmune diseases, like rheumatoid arthritis.

In which age groups is MS most common?

MS can affect people of any age. However, it’s most commonly diagnosed in people between the ages of 20 and 50 years. The average age when MS symptoms first appear is between the ages of 30 and 35 years. Researchers have found that MS affects different age groups differently. For instance, people who are diagnosed when they are 50 years or older typically have a more progressive disease course.

Is MS more common in certain ethnic groups?

MS is more common among Caucasians and among people of Northern or Central European descent. By contrast, MS is less common among Hispanics, Asians, and in people of African descent. MS rarely occurs among some ethnic groups, such as Inuits, Aborigines, and Maoris.

Is MS becoming more common?

Compared with years ago, an increasing number of people are being diagnosed with MS. However, researchers are unsure if this means that the incidence of MS is increasing. Instead, it may be that there is increased awareness of MS and better diagnostic tools, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), for diagnosing the disease. Additionally, the availability of better treatment options may make physicians more willing to make a firm diagnosis of MS.

The possibility does exist that MS is increasing which may be linked to exposure to environmental factors, such as viruses or bacteria or toxins, or changes in lifestyle, or some, as of yet, unknown factor.

Organizations such as the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National MS Society, and the Parkinson’s Action Network are exploring the possibility of establishing a shared national registry for chronic neurologic diseases. Such an effort could shed light on important research questions about MS, including whether it is on the  rise."

Being aware is so important! Help spread the word of awareness and continue to pray for a cure!

Goodies for a good cause!!

This Saturday, GFWC will be taking part in the St. Patrick's Day festivities which include a bake sale to help end childhood hunger. This is something that is definitely a challenge and a sad one for many families around the world. If children do not have the nutrients and vitamins that their bodies need to grow and learn, they will not be able to grow up big and strong. Growing up big and strong is a phrase many parents tell their children in order to get them to eat their veggies. It makes me sad to think that their are children out there that would do anything to eat the veggies that some kids just will not eat.

It's important to remember that you can help! The statistics below definitely gives me hope that childhood hunger has an end in sight! Come out this Saturday to Kleman Plaza and get some yummy baked goods while supporting such a wonderful cause!
Be sure to hug your kids a little longer and be sure they know how blessed they are!

Ready for Spring!!

I am 100% ready for Spring for a few reasons....
1. This cold weather needs to go! Mother Nature didn't get the memo that this is Florida! LOL! Temperatures in the 40's in March?? I think winter has over stayed its welcome!
2. There are so many neat things coming up this Spring and I cannot wait! Lots of GFWC Junior Woman's Club of Midtown has the bake sale coming up next weekend! (Come out and get some yummy baked goods and support an awesome cause!). In addition to the able sale, the club has it's annual conference in Orlando! ( 80's prom night any many other activities). There will be a local scavenger hunt to help keep Tallahassee clean and have fun! Interested in joining? Join the club, volunteer, attend any and all events! So glad I joined!
3. Spring means flowers, warm weather and fundraising walks for various causes! Some of the walks include the MS Walk at Lake Ella the second weekend in April and the walk for Air, which is so important and will be attended by many, including some members from GFWC Junior Woman's Club of Midtown!!!

And....
One of my very best friends is due in September and I am throwing a baby shower for her this Spring!!! Yay!!!!!!

Have a wonderful Friday and be sure to check out HFFF tomorrow!!!!

50 acts of kindness

Today I read an article from Good Housekeeping magazine that listed 50 acts of kindness that you can do for others. I think it is so wonderful to do random acts of kindness for people! I wanted to share the list so we can all try to do at least one of them this week. Remember, you never know what someone is going thru so being nice to someone is a little thing you can do to help improve their day.

The 50 Acts of Kindness are:

1. Leave a bouquet at the hospital — the nurses will know who needs it the most.

2. Make a struggling family's summer by buying them a season pass to the municipal pool.

3. Help a friend see today in a wondrous new light: Hand him or her a kaleidoscope.

4. If you are in a long line, invite the person behind you to go first.

5. Shower the pediatric wing of a hospital with $1 coloring books and $2 boxes of new crayons.

6. Hang a sign on a bulletin board that says "Take What You Need" — with tear-off tabs at the bottom for Love, Hope, Faith, and Courage.

7. Bring courtesy back in an instant: Hold the door open with a flourish.

8. Drop off combs, toothbrushes, and toothpaste at a shelter or a soup kitchen.

9. Curb road rage: Let other cars merge onto the highway.

10. Leave your neighbors a note that tells them how much joy you find in admiring their garden.

11. Put sticky notes with positive messages (e.g., "You look gorgeous!") on a restroom mirror.

12. In low-income families, a baby can spend a day or longer in the same diaper, and laundromats often don't allow cloth diapers to be washed in machines. Help out a mom and a baby by donating diapers (find a directory of diaper banks at diaperbanknetwork.org).

13. Send a thank-you note to the brave officers at your local police station. (Given how we carry on about parking tickets, it's important to acknowledge the daily risks taken by the men and women on the force.)

14. Share the wealth: Ask the grocery clerk to apply your unused coupons to another customer's items.

15. Arrange to pay anonymously for a soldier's breakfast when you see him or her dining alone.

16. Slip a $20 gas card or public-transportation pass into someone's shopping bag.

17. Rekindle your Girl Scout spirit: Pick up trash at a park or a playground.

18. Donate your old professional clothes to an organization, like Dress for Success (dressforsuccess.org), that helps women jump-start their careers — and up their confidence.

19. Carry someone's groceries.

20. Offer your mail carrier a glass of iced tea or a $5 Starbucks gift card.

21. Bake bread or cookies and deliver the food to a nearby fire station or group home.

22. Be the bigger person: Cede the parking space.

23. Check "yes" when asked if you wish to become an organ donor — and tell your family.

24. Lay your neighbors' newspaper at their front door along with a plate of blueberry muffins

25. Donate old cell phones to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ncadv.org), which will use the proceeds for programs that protect families from abuse.

26. Sing an employee's praises to a manager or on a comment card — a little recognition goes a long way.

27. Share happy memories. Stick an old photo in the mail to a friend and write a note about the day it was taken on the back.

28. Send an ooey-gooey dessert over to another table at a restaurant.

29. Leave a copy of a book you love, with a note for the next reader, on the train or the bus.

30. Send valentines in August.

31. Load extra change into the vending machine to buy the next person a Coke.

32. Send somebody an e-card, just because. The funnier, the better.

33. Name a star after someone (starregistry.com).

34. Forgive someone. Repeat as necessary.

35. Resolve to refrain from negative self-talk (you deserve your kindness, too!).

36. On trash day, wheel your neighbor's can out to the curb.

37. Relay an overheard compliment.

38. You don't have to send every disadvantaged child to college, but you can buy one of them a life-changing book: Try booksforkids.org.

39. To melt away her blues, send a friend a funny video from YouTube.

40. Volunteer to read to kids at an after-school program.

41. Give your mom a shout-out on your birthday — after all, she deserves some credit for your life.

42. Pause and give people the benefit of the doubt. E-mail, especially, can cause unintentional feather-ruffling.

43. Bring your spouse coffee in bed.

44. Treat an elderly neighbor, with a gift certificate, to a $30 pedicure. Bonus points if you can do so anonymously.

45. Dedicate a song on the radio to someone you know is listening during his or her long commute.

46. Take kindness on the road: Pay the toll for the car behind you.

47. Slow way down when you drive past a pedestrian — 35 mph can seem like the Indy 500 to a woman walking her dog.

48. Rescue a wallflower! Strike up a conversation with someone who's standing alone at a party.

49. Leave extra umbrellas in vestibules with notes that say "Use this to stay dry!"

50. Ask others — sincerely — what you can do to help.

Remember to do something nice for someone else and remember to be nice to others!
