Diveristy...people are people

This is something that is very near and dear to my heart and is a topic I could talk about until I am blue in the face...but I won't. I found some images on Pinterest that will sum up how I feel about the issue.

First, a little background on why this is my topic for today.
I came across a situation where someone was not given an opportunity because of their age and gender. In my opinion, everyone no matter their age, gender, ethnicity, religion, etc. should be given the same opportunities. I feel that, as adults, it is our responsibility to teach children that so that society can move forward rather than backwards. Enough of my soapbox, here are the images I mentioned earlier. Remember to love one another and be nice!

#youdontlikethegoldengirls

I just heard the funniest line ever! "If you don't like the Golden Girls, I don't like you" I LOVE Golden Girls and Duck dynasty, which is where the line came from (Jep to be exact). Golden Girls is about friendship and life and family and I think it is such a funny show! Betty White, or Rose, is the only one left but she is just as precious as she can be! I think that shows that are relatable and are about family and friends and being there for each other are so important and becoming more rare. Remember to love each other, do nice things, say please and thank you and just be a good person! Below are a few quotes from Golden Girls!

Have a wonderful week and remember to say thank you for being a friend to all of the wonderful people in your life!!

HFFF!!!

Hello loves!!!! Today is Friday and I am so glad! It has been a hectic week! My top 5 things for this week are....
1. I was able to attend church on Sunday with two amazing people! I had a wonderful time and the service was great!
2. (Kinda nerdy) I had a meeting this week at work with a sales rep and I realized how much technology is changing things and making information so much more accessible! Pretty awesome!
3. Although the week has been hectic, it was the good kind of hectic so I feel less stressed than some weeks which is always a plus!
4. New opportunities have presented themselves for some really great people so that always makes me smile!
5. I connected with a family member on fb that I haven't seen in several years which makes me super happy! Family is so important to me!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday!!
Here is a cute picture I thought I should share! Enjoy!!

Nicholas Sparks <3

I LOVE Nicholas Sparks books! They are such a sweet, good-hearted love story. I have seen all of his movies (I think) including:
A Walk to Remember
Dear John
The Last Song
The Notebook
Safe Haven
And the list goes on. For Christmas, one of my best friends bought me the book "The Longest Ride" and I wanted to share my thoughts about the book!!
This was such a wonderful book with 2 story lines. The first was about an elderly man who gets into a car accident and is visited by the memory or spirit of his deceased wife in order to help him survive. The other story line is about a college student who meets a bull rider. Two people from such different worlds that are drawn to each other. The story is about love, sacrifice, family, friends, tradition and helping others! I recommend it to everyone!!!

Have a wonderful evening!

2. Grinch Kabobs (made for our secret Santa breakfast)
Another Pinterest favorite! Marshmallow on top, a strawberry, banana slice and grape. Yummy and nutritious!
3. I wanted to make a sweet treat for Valentine's Day! When all else fails, rice crispies it is!

All of these were super easy and fun to make and share!

Crawl For A Cause 2014!

Wow! What a wonderful night! Raising money for a good cause is something that brings happiness to my heart always! It was wonderful to see over 200 people supporting such a wonderful cause! This year was the 2nd Annual Crawl For A Cause! This year, the event raised over $4,000 to help families be able to travel to various places in order to get their child the treatment they need for Congenital heart problems! This is such a wonderful cause and is something that can help so many in need! I also was able to spend the evening with my favorite love birds, Kelly and Hunter! They are such a wonderful couple and are both such great friends and people!! Here is a picture from tonight (of the lovebirds)

Next year will be even better!! Yay! Already excited for #CrawlForACause 2015!!!!

HFFF

Yay for Fridays!!! Fridays are my favorite day of the week for a few reasons. Not only are they the last work day of the week (for some) but they are also a time to reflect back on things that happened during the week. The top 5 things that happened to me this week, in no particular order, are:
1. New opportunities in my life have presented themselves and I cannot wait to see what God has in store for my life.
2. My best friend Kelly (SouthernComfortBlog) and I joined an amazing club this week (blogged about it Wednesday but so excited I had to talk about it again!). We joined the GFWC Junior Woman's Club of Midtown! What a wonderful organization! I cannot wait to see all of the great things this club can accomplish!
3. I had a surprise dinner date with a wonderful friend this week! Yay for surprises and dinner dates with delicious food!
4. I met some new wonderful friends and fellow club members this week and I am grateful for each of them. They were all so welcoming and friendly!
5. I think this is my favorite! My first club event is tomorrow and I cannot wait!! I am sooo excited to see how much we can raise for such a great cause! This event will be a fun event with door prizes of all kinds as well as food and drink samples from some local hot spots! The proceeds go to help the families of kids with congenital heart failure be able to get the care their children need. While it doesn't help with medical bills, it does help with hotels, gas and phone. Little things that people forget about until they really deal with the situations. I am looking forward to this event and encourage everyone (over 21) to attend! #CrawlForACure
Have a wonderful weekend and be sure to check out the photos from the event later this weekend!

Happy Valentine's Day!

              Happy Valentine's Day!!
February 14th, the day that many think is a day to show someone you care. While I totally encourage showing your affection for your loved one, I think that the date should be irrelevant. Whether you are single, dating, engaged or married, I think you should show your loved ones your love daily and not just on Valentine's Day!

Below is a pin I found on Pinterest that I thought was funny about Valentine's Day! Remember, show each other love and kindness not just today, but everyday!!

GFWC Junior Woman's Club of Midtown

I am so excited for tonight! My best friend Kelly (SouthernComfortblog) and I have decided to join this organization! The first meeting is tonight and the first event is this Saturday. I have been looking for a way to get more involved in the community as well as meeting new people and here it is! I am super excited! I love giving back to the community and think this organization will be wonderful!!
Below is an image of the ticket for this weekends event!
Crawl for a Cause is a wonderful idea and I am thinking it will be a fantastic event! The tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the event. The proceeds benefit children with heart issues! So excited to raise money for such a great cause! Will post about the 1st meeting soon!!

Cancer Sucks!

What a topic! I hate Cancer! It affects so many people and it is so terrible! One of my co-workers and dear friends just found out she has breast cancer. I have a few friends that are breast cancer survivors and I have no doubt she will join the survivor club too!
I thought the above image was fitting since she is going to be firing, and conquering it!
It's times like these that really make you want to spend every minute doing what you love with the people you love! Be sure to hug your loved ones a little tighter tonight and pray for the survival or those impacted by cancer.

The Beatles

What a wonderful way to end the weekend! I watched the Beatles 50th anniversary special! I can't believe that such a legendary band has been around for such a long time! It was great to see all of the artists from various decades perform Beatles songs! When the Beatles came to the US they were like nothing America had seen before. Their music impacted the music that would come to be for years to come! Not only were they a wonderful band but they, originally, were a group of friends that made it big doing what they loved!

I am a hippie at heart and love the Beatles!
Have a wonderful week!!!!

Encourage and be determined

I was watching the news recently and there was a story about a man who went from janitor to principal. In 1985, he started out as a janitor in a school when the principal pulled him aside and have him the encouragement he needed. The principal said, "I want to see you grading papers rather than pushing them". This short sentence encouraged him to be determined enough to change his life. He went on to say that he smiles constantly because he is so happy to be where he is and to be working in that same school. Such a heartfelt story!! It is important as people, moms and dads and siblings and  friends that we encourage each other instead of discourage them. A kind word of gesture can go a long way. I saw a quote that I thought was perfectly fitting for this topic.
Such a wonderful saying by an extraordinary person! You never know the struggle or situation that someone may be going thru but a simple smile may change someone's day. Remember that you can make a difference! I believe in peace and love (hence the name of my blog)! So remember say encouraging things and be determined to follow your dreams! You are the only one that can create the path to your dreams!

Dreams come to those who work hard and are determined. Instant gratification teaches less than working hard and remaining confident and proud! Love one another and be proud of yourself every step of the way, even if it's just a baby step!
